BRIEFING:
Safety Coordinator |
An
individual should be designated as the organization's
in-house Safety Coordinator. This person has
primary responsibility for establishing, implementing
and maintaining safety and health
programs.
The
Safety Coordinator may enlist one or more others in the
organization to assist in specific assignments, and to
serve as a back-up in the Safety Coordinator's absence.
The
Safety Coordinator will review and establish written
safety programs as part of a Master Safety
Plan.
The
written Master

of safety rules and safe work procedures for the
organization.

written programs are required by OSHA. The Master
Safety Plan should be a collection and coordination of

Make regular facility, shop,
facility and job site safety inspections.
-
Implement and monitor an effective
safety and health training program.

Enforce
compliance with safe work practices and company safety
rules through counseling, re-training and, if
necessary, disciplinary action.
-
Investigate accidents and near
misses.

first aid incidents to for hazards needing
correction.

Ensure that recordable injuries are
documented on the OSHA 300.
