BACKGROUND & OVERVIEW:

When SAFETY ADVANTAGE began exploring the marketplace for interactive video training resources we had several objectives:

  • QUALITY. The system must have high-quality software and course content with full vendor support and technical expertise.
  • SIMPLICITY. The system must be "Employee Friendly." It must be very easy to operate. Our goal is to teach SAFETY -- not how to use a computer.
  • AFFORDABILITY. We must be able to justify cost as compared to conventional training immediately -- not in future years.
  • FLEXIBILITY. The software must allow the computer to do double duty as a "learning machine" with minimum hardware requirements.
  • OSHA COMPLIANCE. The system must support employers in meeting OSHA requirements for both initial and annual safety training. It must also have a large additional library to allow for specific client selections.
  • AUTOMATIC TRACKING. The system itself must track individual employee performance. It must automatically document results and easily produce hard-copy reports on demand in order to save the safety supervisor hours of nonproductive "file shuffling" each month -- time better spent in other areas.
  • AUTOMATIC VALIDATION. The system must fully document every aspect of training for each individual trained. This includes maintaining safety training records in the manner required by OSHA.

YOUR IVT CONNECTION

SAFETY ADVANTAGE offers a full range of IVT resources, including custom production of client-specific programs and conversion to CD-ROM of existing video and laser disc training. Interactive Video Training is important to Safety Advantage and our clients because statistical information consistently illustrates that IVT will immediately "reduce the cost of training," "increase learning retention" and "enhance worker safety."

Subjects Explained by Experts.
Why is it so effective? Because safety experience in hindsight is always 100% effective. Once an accident occurs, EVERYONE immediately knows how it could have been avoided.

With live-action video, the accident does not really have to happen. The employee is involved in situations being played out on the screen. After approximately 60 seconds of live action (mental preparation), the employee receives a safety fact (visual registration in his mind). This safety fact is reinforced with graphics or visual choices. After the employee selects a choice, decisions are explained to emphasize and maximize learning. This is learning through cause and effect, decision making and reinforcement.

There is no greater combination of effective learning available to an individual. Eighty percent of safety is nothing more than effective decision making. That is why IVT works.

Fast-Paced, Visual & Interesting.
Each student sets his or her own pace. Employees cannot complete the training unless they correctly understand each concept, and yet they have the ability to review as needed. The system does not advance to the next idea until they successfully master the current section. The system is one-on-one and subjects are explained by experts who are always at their very best. There is never a "bad day."

It's EASY to Learn How to Use IVT.
Interaction is easy. Every subject is displayed consistently. It takes about three minutes for the employee to become friendly with the system. The response technique and interaction is consistent throughout all the subjects. There is no learning curve. If an employee can to use a touch tone phone, he or she is ready for the interactive video safety trainer.

Employees Like IVT Training. Safety Supervisors Love It.
Aside from being an effective learning tool, Interactive Video Training is a powerful tool for the safety supervisor. The many features available allow us to learn a great deal about our employees and their safety knowledge. For example:

  • Pre-Testing. Select 1 to 40 questions to test the employee's knowledge of the subject prior to taking the course. Employees who have a mastery of the subject can advance quickly to the Post Test.
  • Employee Feedback. The employee can write comments back to the safety supervisor at any time during training. Comments can then be addressed as necessary to ensure effective safety communication.
  • Post-Testing. Again, select the extent of post testing -- 1 to 40 questions. Find out what employees have learned or, better yet, how well prepared they are to work safely. Post testing demonstrates and documents the employee's level of understanding.
  • Database Tracking System. IVT lets the computer automatically do the administrative work and recordkeeping for the trainer. It shows how well individuals performed in each section. The system knows how long each person needed to complete training and if they had any difficulty. Right and wrong percentages are registered. The Safety Supervisor does not have to manually track each employee on each course. When you log on, statistics begin accumulating.
Software Installation Takes Approximately 5 Minutes.
It is as easy to install as a VHS movie. Simply place the installation disk in your computer and follow instructions on your screen. A Safety Advantage technical support member is always available to assist with setup and utilizing the training titles. As simple as it is, we are here if you need help.
NOTE: Software has full networking capabilities. Call for technical information.

Develop or Convert Your Custom Interactive Video Training.
Our technicians can video your subject or use your custom video. Once scanned for correct OSHA rules and regulations, our CSP will develop the training criteria and interaction routines. The material is then audited and transformed into a CD-ROM Interactive Custom Video Trainer.

Coordination & Support from
Safety & Industrial Hygiene Professionals.
Safety Advantage supports all IVT training programs with the review and recommendations of Certified Safety Professionals and Certified Industrial Hygienists. If needed, we can prepare written Master Safety Plans, Employee Safety Handbooks and other documentation that coordinates with IVT.
